Do asylum seekers pay taxes?
Asylum seekers can apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and a SSN 6 months after filing their asylum application. They pay taxes on income just like everyone else. They also pay property tax and sales tax, thereby contributing to their local communities.
